School is cool

February 22nd, 2009 by Trent

Yes I know I am a little to young for school but that is one my new favourite words and then it is easy to say cool when you can say school!

Well the walking is getting better every day as Liam gets more confident – his arms are down by his side and he walks carry things too. Very exciting to watch! He LOVES the new independence he has too. Soon he will be running and then what?!!!

He now blows kisses (Liam style – looks a little Italian) when asked and is happy to blow a kiss and wave goodbye to his teachers at child care too – the pick-ups are great as he walks around and shows off not desperate to leave at all. Currently, he cries at the drop-off but after reading his favourite book the great staff assure me he is content. The centre takes digital photos every day and they caught this great smile the other day and Liam in action- thanks!

He has started to make more of an effort feeding himself (although he his happy for us to still do it!) but loves showing off his spoon skills and says “UUUMMM” every time as he feeds himself each spoonful . Apparently he fed himself noodles for lunch at kindy (play centre as mum calls it) the other day. He also watches the other kids do it and I am sure this makes him want to do it even more! Liam ate his schnitzel at Booba Lena and Pappa George’s with a fork too for dinner the other night.

There are more words in Liam’s expanding vocabulary some are constant and consistent and some aren’t. The more regular daily ones are egg, cheese, cot, keys, here, book, me, two (when asked what comes after one – or when we count together!) and school/cool (ha!), toot toot (for the sound of a train) and baa (sound of a sheep). Every other animal says “Moo!”

Liam LOVES his new big single bed although we can’t report a sleep in it as yet, he loves to climb up on it, play around and read his many books. Mum also bought a cute Zebra to cuddle from the Build-a-Bear workshop and called it Zippy.

Another new Liam trick now is being able to open door handles! Scary! So now we have to make sure doors or gates are locked as we can WALK out!

Mum had a 34+ week ultrasound the other day which went very well – baby sister looks great and healthy – after looking at some of her body measurements they did a a rough gestimate of the approx weight of 2.3kg (on the petite but healthy side). The radiographer said she could see fat rolls!! 3 weeks to go on Tuesday! Liam loves kissing his “baby” in mum’s tummy too – sure it will be a shock when she actually arrives! At least she has wrapped up some nice, fun presents for me!

The last week the weather has been mostly wet but when it dries we are enjoying the park. We have also had some nice play dates, music class and this week went to Adele’s Action kids too.

Let’s go walking!

February 10th, 2009 by Trent

Liam has improved soooo much in his walking this week! Well everyday he gets better and better – it is so nice to watch the changes!

He now loves to walk nearly all the time and he can start walking from a sitting position and doesnt need to hold on to furniture anymore. His walk has also changed from the hands up/Charlie Chaplin style to hands down most of the time with better balance 🙂

He really showed a huge change last Tuesday afternoon (3rd Feb) when he was picked up from child care and after only having a 30 minute sleep there he nearly walked non-stop for 2 hrs around Lyne Park playground!

Speaking of child care – Liam is doing so well! Today was a breakthrough (Tues 10th Feb) – he ate lunch for the first time and was one of the first to fall asleep with no dummy of course. Then when mum came to pick him up he walked over and gave a nice big happy hug and then was showing off walking around the room talking and smiling. Only the drop off in the morning isn’t pleasant when Liam gets upset 🙁

Liam goes to sleep beautifully and without a sound – dummy days are well and truly over! Yeah – now we will start again when his baby sister enters the world. Exactly today 5 weeks time mum is scheduled for a c-section – so soon!

We started Einsteinz music class at Bondi Pavillion and we love the drumming and songs.

Mum has now decorated the orange feature wall with planes, helicopters, hot-air balloons, clouds etc and the new bed has been put together. Liam loves playing on the BIG boy bed and story time before sleep is great fun on the bed with mum and dad. The love of books is fantastic to see and there is a upcoming library book sale that mum and dad HAVE to check out! There is also a perfect blank wall in Liam’s new room for Oma to create some new artworks! Very exciting – stay tuned for some cool paintings.

More teeth this week – “could there be anymore?!!” people say – But yes more Molars! Another 2 came through (6/8) so only another 2 left ..i think!

There is always lots of babble and excitement from Liam but the distinct words this week that are definitely repeated are Zada (his grandfather), car, park, Moo (says the cow), boo (playing hide n seek) me (as he looks at himself in the mirror of course!) and lots of NO!

We also blow kisses now – in our special way (hand to mouth etc) -we know what we are doing 🙂

Liam LOVES getting horsey rides with his Zada!

Happy Birthday to dad!

February 1st, 2009 by Trent

What a HUGE week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently went to visit my great grandfather Pa and I gave him a big kiss.

On Saturday I got my 3rd Haircut and I was soooooo well behaved it was amazing!! I loved sitting in the car and steering while my hair got cut very short.

Mum and dad also bought me a ceiling fan for my room. It has been SO hot (about 28c in my room at night) that the fan is fantastic!

On Monday (Australia Day) we bought my first BED from treehouse! We get it delivered next Tuesday and it will go in my new room J For now I will enjoy checking it out and soon enough I will have no cot and sleep in it permanently. My new room is nearly finished just adding my new bed and wall decorations. Check out photos of my new play room.

We went for brunch at Booba Lena and Papa George’s house to watch the ferry race for Australia day. There were so many boats! What a great view.

On Tuesday I started child care and although I wasn’t happy that mum left me – I did so well! On my first day I didn’t eat lunch or afternoon tea but I slept just over 1 hr and was happy the rest of the day.

Then on Wednesday I decided to watch the others eat lunch and then I ate afternoon tea – 4 gingerbreads! I also fell asleep in less than 10 mins and with NO DUMMY! (They forgot to give to me in fact!).

So mum and dad decided I didn’t need a dummy anymore for when I go to sleep! A little weird for me after having for so long but I got used to the idea very quickly! First night I cried for 12 mins and that was it! The next day 5 mins for my lunch sleep and 10 mins for my night sleep and then the following day nothing!!!!!!!!! As you can imagine mum and dad are VERY proud.

Friday – dad’s 31st birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday dad! Mum and I got him so cool presents too. I loved the party hat mum wore this morning when we sang Happy Birthday. We are going to have a nice afternoon tea with friends tomorrow which will be great.

I also started private swimming lessons today with my new teacher Annie. I have been in bub’s club for a year so we have now moved to 15 min private lessons. It will take a few lessons to get used to the idea that mum or dad aren’t coming in the water with me.

I am also WALKING a lot more – I am getting more confidence everyday – I used to love walking steps between mum and dad now I walk from toy to toy, or around the playground, garden etc The other day I walked with a toy in each hand to Oma. I am walking longer distances independently so we will see what it becomes a permanent thing!

I am also VERY good a flash cards! Although I can’t say the actual word (my babble is great, I say what the word is very convincingly although you can understand it!), I can point and give you every card when asked J i.e. the picture of leaves, cookies, apples, shoes, teddy bears, fish etc etc

I am always very expressive and I chat in lots of babble. There have been a couple of words here and there – No (my favourite and in a cute French accent), Oooo (especially when I see my babycino arrive), Weee (excited) , Car. Park, me and hello. There are a few words I say but once off so far – boat, ball, dog etc I do nod my head and say no or shake my head vigorously to communicate.

Now that we have started the month of February I can say next month I will get to meet my beautiful baby sister! WOW!
