Bronte Park Officially Open

Bronte Park was declared officially ‘open’ by Mayor of Waverley, Sally Betts on Friday 21 December, 2012 – just in time for the summer holidays!

Delighted children rushed onto the play equipment following the cutting of the ribbon by Mayor Sally Betts and her assistant on the day, three-year-old, Demi Collins.

Council’s Parks and Operations Team have been working hard on the project for the last twelve months and the finished playground will cater to children aged between 6 months to twelve years.

The concept design for the playground was developed following a community consultation day held in 2011. The playground design provides elements of nature-based play, using the existing slope for climbing and exploration. The area has been designed to encourage children to engage with our natural environment and incorporates recycled sandstone and lots of plants and trees.

The playground is quite unique in its design and play pieces such as the rocking boat and tower have been incorporated to encourage dramatic and imaginative play. Landscaping works include shade trees and seating for parents and carers with planting to define the edge of the playground.
